What is a Preceptor?

A Preceptor is an experienced sonographer that has the time and ability to teach the participant the hands-on experience in performing a complete echocardiogram.

Topics should include:

  • reviewing knobology
  • demonstrating proper patient positioning
  • following department protocols
  • obtaining all views
  • optimizing the image
  • evaluating the participants progress
  • completing the Competency Checkoff form
  • sharing personal experiences in performance of the procedure
  • urging the participant to maintain a personal log of studies

In appreciation, the Preceptor receives a free subscription to Echo-Web CME courses (a value of $275) and a certificate once the participant completes the hands-on experience.
