Cat 1 Echocardiography Series I
Category 1 statement of approval is found on the objectives page in each course.
Upon completion of this series, the participant will be able to identify benign cardiac tumors, clinical evaluation of cardiomyopathies, echocardiographic evaluation of prosthetic valves by understanding the etiology, pathology, signs and symptoms, echocardiographic findings, and the use of other diagnostic techniques including medical history, EKG, palpation, auscultation, and catheterization. The participant will also be able to identify treatments appropriate to the specific disease.
The participant will be able to identify the proper use and performance of exercise stress testing and stress echo in evaluating coronary artery disease to include necessary equipment needed in order to identify indications, relative and absolute contraindications, blood pressure responses, methods of measurement, types, EKG changes, exercises in determining sensitivity and specificity of exercise stress test results, and uses of echocardiography in exercise stress testing.
The participant will be able to identify the anatomical orientation of the body, identify internal and external cardiac structures and describe their functions, the operation of the cardiac valves and to identify cardiac vasculature and the regions of the myocardium that they supply.
The presentation utilizes standard animation, case study video, audio and video interactive activities, and simulation methods to reinforce learning. Evaluation utilizes knowledge-recall, application-interpretation, and simulation constructs to meet course objectives.
A 10 question post test is included to assist the participant in evaluating their understanding of the course material.
Courses include:
• Echo 203 - Benign Cardiac Tumors
• Echo 208 - Exercise Stress Testing and Stress Echo (2 CMEs)
• Echo 210 - Clinical Evaluation of Cardiomyopathies
• Echo 211 - Echocardiographic Evaluation of Prosthetic Valves
