17th Annual Echocardiographic Workshop on 2-D and Doppler Echocardiography at Vail
Description:This program will provide a comprehensive review of state-of-the-art 2-D, Doppler and transesophageal echocardiography with a strong emphasis on newer and more rapidly changing areas. The topics to be covered include diastology, ischemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, 3-D echo, application of TEE in clinical practice, cardiomyopathy, and resynchronization in heart failure. The role of echo relative to the newer imaging modalities will be discussed. There are also afternoon workshops on transesophageal echo, hemodynamics, and stress echo. The final workshop will include a series of clinical cases which will focus on integrating various imaging modalities to provide the highest quality of patient care. The course is designed for the clinician and sonographer who are actively involved in adult echocardiography and wish to gain additional practical experience in these specific areas. Daily reading sessions will provide the opportunity to interpret case studies and to compare and discuss diagnoses with the faculty. An integrated format combining theory and practice will be utilized. In the morning sessions, a traditional lecture series will present state-of-the-art information on selected topics. Application of the techniques to clinical practice will be emphasized. Lectures covering pertinent general cardiology topics, such as appropriateness criteria, will also be provided. In the afternoon, attendees will have the opportunity to apply the lecture material in a workshop environment. A large number of cases will be presented, analyzed and discussed. Each afternoon, attendees will be able to participate in reading sessions, covering either transesophageal echo, stress echo, and hemodynamics.

Florida Valve 2010: Emerging Valvular & Endovascular Therapies for the Surgeon and Cardiologist
Description:Florida Valve ‘10 is designed to be an innovative educational experience, drawing upon the knowledge of the world’s leaders in Cardiac Surgery, Percutaneous Interventions, Cardiovascular Imaging, Endovascular Surgery and Cardiac Anesthesiology as they present current and new knowledge centering on innovations in the diagnosis and treatment of valvular heart disease and diseases of the aorta. Valvular heart disease has become a growing focus of many physicians worldwide. The dramaticadvances in cardiac surgery and percutaneous interventions paralleled by the advancing age of our population have led to management of valvular heart disease. Furthermore, the advancing percutaneous therapies worldwide have led cardiovascular providers to have similar extensions in experience to the diagnosis and treatment of the diseases of the aorta and peripheral vascular system. Florida Valve ‘10 will build upon the information of earlier symposia to discuss not only the recent advances in interventional and surgical techniques in valvular heart disease but further delve into how advances in technology also have application and necessary knowledge on handling diseases of the aorta. Remaining unique among the educational field by providing equal representation of the world’s leaders in Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology, Florida Valve ’10 will also present information on the strategic direction of the field of valvular heart disease that may enhance practice. Also represented will be Clinical Cardiologists, who are experts in imaging and management of valvular heart disease, as well as authors on the latest ACC/AHA Guidelines for Valvular Heart Disease. This year world experts in Endovascular Therapy of the aorta will be present to enhance the translational knowledge between specialties. These experts bring a wealth of clinical knowledge and will provide the latest on diagnosis and surgical and percutaneous interventions. With faculty equally represented by the foremost leaders in Cardiac Surgery, Cardiology and Endovascular Therapy together in a dynamic and personal interchange, the audience will not only learn the current advances in treatment of valvular heart disease but will enjoy lively and direct personal on-on-one discussions with the faculty in an open and friendly environment.
